Rolex "5100/9 White Gold" Texano

SOLD

Rolex “5100/9 White Gold” Texano

SOLD

Description

The Rolex 5100, known as the “Texano” was introduced in 1970 and the result of research and development of the Centre Electronique Horologer which brought together around 20 of the most important watchmakers  to develop an entirely Swiss Quartz movement – the Beta 21. The 5100 was at that time the most expensive Rolex they sold, and was considered a prototype of 1000 pieces.  Of the 1000 examples produced, only allegedly 100 were made in white gold, making it one of the rarest production Rolex ever made.  The condition of this Rolex Texano is excellent, showing a strong case (likely very lightly polished in the past) with prominent beveling to the case and bracelet, and a perfect dial. The luminous material has been reapplied (most likely by Rolex) with chromalight luminous.  The bracelet appears to be fully linked, fitting an approximate 7.5″ wrist.
