Rolex “18039” Day-Date

Description

Up for grabs is a lovely Rolex Day-Date, reference 18039 in 18kt white gold and with quick-set movement following the reference 1803, circa 1975-76.  This particular Rolex Day-Date is fitted with a silver, sunburst dial, and was originally delivered to Japan, as evidenced by the very uncommon Rolex presidential band stamped “Made in Japan”. Due to import restrictions, many brands were forced to send material Japan for parts (such as cases, bands, etc), to be produced domestically in Japan.

The condition of this Rolex Day-Date is great.  The case is very sharp, possibly lightly detailed in the past.  The dial is excellent, with no flaws, and the original tritium lume is present on both dial and hands, aged to a stunning orange patina.  The bracelet shows light stretch, and will fit an approximate 7.3″ wrist.
