Up for grabs is a lovely and well-preserved Rolex Submariner, reference 1680, circa 1970, housed in 18kt yellow gold – the very first reference made by Rolex in solid gold. This particular Rolex Submariner features a blue “nipple” dial, with matching blue bezel. Solid gold vintage Submariners have become increasingly difficult to find in good condition. This particular watch is in lovely vintage condition. The case appears unpolished, and retains thick and even lugs, showing original beveled edges; additionally, the caseback has developed a lovely and warm patina. The dial remains excellent, with no major flaws or damage. Likewise, the original tritium lume is still present on both dial and hands, aged to a nice yellow color.
