Rolex “16758” GMT-Master

Description

Offered here is a Rolex GMT-Master, Ref. 16758, in 18kt Yellow Gold, circa 1980.  The Reference 16758 is transitional from the Reference 1675, upgraded with a sapphire crystal and Caliber 3075 movement, and introduced the quick-set function to the GMT line.  These watches came fitted with a variety of dials, with the black “nipple” dials being amongst the most favored by collectors.

This gold GMT-Master is in good vintage condition.  The case has been lightly polished, but retains thick and even lugs, and the right side of the case has developed a striking warm patina/tarnish.  The black nipple dial is in good condition, with no damage, with an even patina or “matting” set in evenly across the dial.  Further, the original tritium lume is still present on the dial and hands, aged to a nice yellow color. The watch comes fitted on its original Rolex Swiss Jubilee bracelet, will fit an approximate 7.5″ wrist (5 removable screws), and has light stretch
