SOLD
Description
The Rolex Explorer II debuted in 1971, given the Reference 1655, and was an extension of Rolex’s Explorer line, creating a rugged sports watch, also featuring a GMT function. This GMT function is delineated by the addition of the “Freccione” or orange hand. The present example is a second execution (MK2) Explorer II, produced circa 1973-74.
This Rolex Explorer II in great vintage condition. The case is thick and even, with original beveled edges still visible, showing normal wear from use; if it ever was polished, it was done lightly and a long time ago. The dial is immaculate, with no chips or marks. The original lume is present in both the hands and dial markers, having aged to a nice yellow color. The watch comes equipped on a later Rolex Oyster 78360 bracelet with 580 endlinks, and has 10 full links with virtually no stretch.
