SOLD
Description
Offered here is one of the most beautiful watches we have ever offered for a sale – a Longines time-only watch, with a stunning two-tone dial, featuring art-deco numerals. According to Longines, this watch was produced in 1943, and was given the reference number 4179. Although there were many Longines of this era produced in similar fashion, this is the only one we have seen with this particular thick-lug style case and this particular two-tone style dial.
This Longines is near perfect, virtually unworn. The case is unpolished and razor sharp. The dial likewise is virtually perfect, with no flaws or wear, changing colors depending on from which angle you view it. Further, it is accompanied by an Extract of the Archives from Longines, dating the invoicing of this watch to July of 1943 to a retailer in Italy. This is a true collector’s grade watch, and quite frankly, one of the most striking time-only watches we have ever had the pleasure to sell – from any brand, period.
