SOLD
Description
Up for grabs is a very uncommon and hard to find Longines watch, often dubbed the “Pointer-Date”, bearing the reference 5412. This watch is unique for its striking resemblance to the extremely popular oversized time-only Longines watches of the 1940-1950s, yet with a twist: this watch also has an extra hand pointing to the edge of the dial to indicate the day of the month.
According to Longines, this particular watch was invoiced on October 13, 1948 to Ostersetzer, which was their agent in Italy at the time.
This Longines Pointer-Date is in exceptional condition. The case is unpolished and razor sharp. The dial is near-perfect, with no noticeable flaws or blemishes. The original lume is still present and in-tact, and the radium still reads strongly on a geiger counter.
Included in the sale is the watch’s original green box and an extract from the Longines’ Archive.
