Description
Gallet is one of the oldest and most storied watch makers, with roots dating as far back as the 1400s. Gallet & Cie was officially formed in 1826 in Switzerland, and since then, they have become a renowned manufacture. So renowned that in 1939, then President Harry S. Truman commissioned Gallet to produce aviation watches for the United States Army Air Forces, which would be known as the “Flying Officer”.
The watch offered today is a model from that line, featuring a black military dial, and 24-hour military time dial layout. It has straight lugs reminiscent of the early Heuer Carreras, which remain unpolished. The dial is the gloss variant (they made this model in matte as well), and in great condition, with only minor blemishing at the edge of the dial by 6 o’clock (however, this can be cleaned off, if so inclined).
