Blancpain “Aqualung” Diver

Description

Aqualung was a retail outlet for diving equipment, and was such a successful client and distributor of the original Blancpain Fifty Fathoms dive watches, Blancpain agreed to retail a watch under the Aqualung name.

The watches were produced in a variety of styles during the 1960s, including 3 different case sizes (34mm, 37mm and 41mm), and with or without the date function. This example is in 37mm and features the date function.

This Blancpain Aqualung is in great vintage condition. The case appears very lightly polished, with original beveled edges still visible. The dial is very attractive, with only light wear/aging, and still very glossy. The original radium lume is still present on both dial and hands (with minor loss to the tip of the minute hand), aged to a golden yellow on the dial, and a shade darker in the hands. The bakelite bezel is in good condition, with only a couple minor cracks, consistent the normal aging of these bezels.
