Rolex “1680/8 18kt Gold” Submariner

Up for grabs is a lovely and well-preserved Rolex Submariner, reference 1680, circa 1977, housed in 18kt yellow gold – the very first reference made by Rolex in solid gold. This particular Rolex Submariner features a matte-black “nipple” dial, with a matching black “fat font” bezel. Solid gold vintage Submariners have become increasingly difficult to find in good condition. This particular watch is in great vintage condition. The case has been previously polished in the past but retains thick and even lugs, showing beveled edges. The dial remains excellent, with no flaws or damage. Likewise, the original tritium lume is still present on both dial and hands, aged to a striking pumpkin-orange color. The watch is fitted on its original Rolex Oyster gold bracelet with “C” clasp code (1978), and the bracelet has 10 full links with no stretch.
