Description
Up for grabs is a very rare and unique Patek Philippe watch, originally produced in 1927, given the reference 439. The reference 439 was a Cartier Tank-style case watch, produced by the famous case maker Wenger. This case style was produced for and used by a few other brands, most notably Audemars Piguet and Vacheron Constantin. The reference 439 was produced in a few different case metals, but according to research, only one example was produced in platinum by Patek. If that was not enough, the example produced in platinum was made for sale by the Italian retailer Hausmann & Co., and co-signed on the dial. This watch remained in the hands of a private European collector for decades, until it was finally auctioned off a few years back. This rare Patek Philippe remains in great vintage condition, with a strong and well-preserved case. The dial remains very attractive, restored at some point in its past. Finally, the watch is accompanied by a Patek Philippe Extract of the Archives, dating the original production to 1927, and its subsequent sale almost a decade later in 1936.
