Up for grabs is a great example of the immensely popular Universal Geneve Compax, often referred to as the exotic Compax or “exotic Nina Rindt”. This iteration is immensely popular due to its colorful blue dial and matching blue bakelite bezel. Additionally, what sets this particular watch apart from the rest, is that it comes with its original and filled-out Warranty Certificate, almost never seen with these watches (in fact, this is the only one we have ever had for sale with original papers)!
This Universal Geneve “Exotic” Compax is in excellent vintage condition. The case is unpolished and blemish free, with all serial and reference numbers visible on the caseback. The dial is mint, with no visible wear. The original tritium lume is still present in the hands, aged to a nice yellow patina. The serial and reference numbers are visible and clear on the caseback. The bezel is very clean, with only one small crack on the left-hand side. The crown is signed Bulova, and while we have seen this exact crown (which matches the more common Universal-signed in dimensions and fit exactly) on no less than 4 other “Nina” Compax watches, it is likely a replacement part.
The watch comes equipped on an original UG steel Gay Freres bracelet, dated to the 2nd quarter of 1968, with correct UZ endlinks.
