Tudor “Full-Set Snowflake” Submariner

SOLD

Description

Up for grabs is a Tudor “Snowflake” Submariner, circa 1981 (96xxxx).  Tudor is better known as the “sister” brand to Rolex – originally formed as a more affordable alternative to that of a Rolex.  In recent years, Tudor has exploded in popularity amongst collectors, with prices often eclipsing those of their Rolex counterparts.  This example is a highly sought-after “Snowflake” Submariner, so-called for the snowflake-like appearance of the hour hand.  Further, this particular example stands out, as it comes complete with its original box and papers, including the original Tudor inner and outer box, Warranty Certificate (dating the original sale to Sept. 22, 1983 in Argentina), and Tudor brochure (in Spanish).

This Tudor Submariner is in excellent vintage condition.  The case has appears unpolished, with original and defined beveled edges.  The dial is in excellent condition, with no flaws, chips, etc.  The original tritium lume is present in the dial, aged to a golden yellow color; the hands appear to be a very old tritium relume, matching the dial perfectly, but briefly glowing when exposed to a UV light. The original bezel insert has a nice faded appearance, and is in excellent condition.

The watch comes on its original Tudor-branded folded-link 9315 bracelet with 380 endlinks, and has 10 links, with very light stretch.
