Tudor “7922” Submariner

SOLD

Description

Up for grabs is a stunning and extremely rare Tudor Submariner, the Reference 7922, which was Tudor’s very first Submariner model, debuted by them in 1954; in terms of Tudor grails, this is the one!  This particular example dates to 1958-1959.  This Tudor Submariner is in excellent vintage condition.  The case has been lightly polished in the past, but the original beveled edges are still visible on the case.  The dial is immaculate, with no damage whatsoever, and has aged to a dark brown hue.  The watch still retains its original radium lume on the dial, aged to a stunning and vibrant yellow color; the original gilt hands have been color-matched to the dial.  Further, the watch retains its original 5-minute early has bezel, a rarity in its own right, and very often replaced.  Lastly, the watch comes fitted on a very rare Rolex Swiss Gay-Freres stretch-rivet bracelet, dated to 1956, and has 12 full links with basically no stretch.

This is a true Sub collector’s grail, and finding this reference in nice and attractive condition is next to impossible, as these dials were heavily damaged over the years.
