Rolex “Two-Tone Root Beer” GMT-Master

SOLD

Description

Up for grabs is a lovely example of the popular “Root Beer” Rolex GMT-Master, in two-tone steel and yellow gold, circa 1987.  This was the first year of the transitional reference 16753, which upgraded the earlier reference 1675 with a new movement and quickset function, allowing the user to change the date with much greater ease.  This example features the so-called “nipple” dial, due to the smaller hour markers, and is applied on a maroon-brown iridescent “sunburst” dial.

The Rolex GMT-Master offered here is in excellent vintage condition.  The case is unpolished and razor sharp, with nice original beveled edges, and still has the original caseback sticker in tact.  The dial is gorgeous, with no chips, scratches or marks,. The original tritium lume is present on both dial and hands, aged to a beautiful orange/pumpkin color on the dial, and a lighter color in the hands.  The watch comes fitted on a Rolex Swiss Jubilee 62523 bracelet with 50/450 endlinks, and has light stretch.
