Rolex “Pre-Daytona” Chronograph

SOLD

Description

Up for grabs is a rare Rolex Oyster Chronograph, nicknamed as part of the “Pre-Daytonas”, due to its production before the famous Daytona line.  This Rolex Chronograph, the Reference 6234, was produced between 1954 to 1961, preceding the Reference 6238.  This one dates to 1959, and has the popular 3-color layout, with outer tracks in black and blue against a white dial.

This Rolex Chronograph is in excellent vintage condition.  The case was likely lightly polished In the past, but retains thick and even lugs, and has an endearing caseback engraving, reading “Frank: 21st Birthday. Mom & Dad”. (Side Note: AWESOME parents Frank had!) The dial is incredibly beautiful, with virtually no wear, and is extremely well-preserved for the age of the watch and the reference, which usually have worn out dials. The original radium lume is present in both dial and hands, aged to a golden yellow color. The watch comes fitted on its original Rolex C&I rivet bracelet, dated to 1958, and has 12 full links with no stretch.

If you are in the market for a collector’s grade Pre-Daytona, look no further, as this is one of the best we have ever seen!
