Offered here is a lovely and crisp example of Rolex Daytona, Ref. 6265, circa 1985, produced in 18kt Yellow Gold. During this era, very few Daytonas were produced in gold, most being fitted in a steel case. In fact, allegedly less than 10% of the 24,000 of 6263 and 6265 watches for the 20 year period of their production run were made in gold. This example is outfitted with a matching champagne dial. Further, this watch comes complete as a full-set, including its original Rolex box, Warranty Certificate (showing the original date of sale in December of 1985, by Panerai in Florence, long before the company was born as a manufacturer of their own watches), booklets, calendar card, etc.
The condition of this Daytona is excellent. The case does not appear to have been polished in the past, with thick and sharp lugs and very sharp. The dial is in perfect condition, with absolutely no wear or damage. The original tritium lume is still present on both dial and hands, and in excellent condition; the plots are perfectly aged to a pale yellow color. The bezel still has all of its original detail, and is also razor sharp.
Further, the watch comes on its original Rolex leather strap and solid gold buckle.
This is a rare opportunity to add a true collector’s-grade 18kt gold Daytona to your collection, in one of its most desirable form.
