Offered here is an incredibly beautiful example of the so-called “transitional” Submariner, the Reference 16800, which was Rolex’s follow-up to the Reference 1680. The 16800 introduced the quick-set function to the Submariner and featured their new Caliber 3035 movement.
The present example dates to 1986, and is in fantastic condition. The case appears unpolished and sharp, with original beveled edges, with normal aging from use. The dial is pristine, with not a blemish in sight. The original tritium lume is present on dial, aged to a lovely pale yellow color, with professionally color-matched hands.
Finally, the watch comes complete with its original Rolex box and “Guarantee Certificate” (originally sold in Japan), and booklet, as pictured.
