Patek Philippe “Serpico Y Laino 570” Calatrava

SOLD

Description

Up for grabs is a beautiful and interesting Patek Philippe Calatrava, reference 570, circa 1949, housed in 18kt yellow gold.  The reference 570 is a very popular reference amongst collectors for its larger (than Patek standards) case size and long lugs, giving it a nice presence on the wrist.  However, what sets this particular example apart from the pack is the fact that it is co-signed by the famous Venezuelan retailer, Serpico Y Laino.  These watches were signed specifically for the retailer, and sold exclusively in their stores – finding these co-signed watches has become difficult, as not many were produced.  Further, the caseback still [importantly] shows the retailer’s stamps “18kt. S&L”.  This watch has been confirmed with Patek Philippe, and an archive can be ordered upon request.

The condition of this Patek Philippe Calatrava is very nice.  The case appears unpolished, or if it ever was, was done very lightly, showing sharp edges and a clear hallmark on the back of the lugs. The dial has aged with a unique and even patina throughout, and has survived unmolested and never “cleaned”, as they often are.
