Jaeger LeCoultre Triple-Date Calendar Watch

SOLD

Description

Jaeger LeCoultre, often referred to as the “watchmaker’s watch brand” is well-regarded as one of the best and most storied brands in the world, still churning out top-quality and high-end watches to this day. During the vintage heyday of the 1940s and 1950s, JLC was so far ahead of the curve that many other brands would often have them produce watch movements and parts for their own watches.

During World War II, while other brands limited their production and were hesitant to design new, innovative watches and movements, JLC moved forward, business-as-usual. From 1943 to 1949, they produced what many believe to be their most attractive watch design to-date: the triple-date calendar watch.

This example features a champagne dial, and an unpolished 18kt gold case, with crisp hallmarks still visible and strong on the side of the top right lug and left side of the case; the caseback still has the original import sticker from South America. The dial is likewise in very good condition, with light wear/patina from age.  Finally, it would appear that the strap and buckle are original to the watch, although we cannot confirm this for a fact.
