Up for grabs is a rare and early Rolex Oyster Chronograph, nicknamed as part of the “Pre-Daytonas”, due to its production before the famous Daytona line. This Rolex Chronograph, the Reference 6234, was produced between 1954 to 1961, preceding the Reference 6238. This one dates to 1955-56, and has a rare dial variant with applied radium indices and gilt 12 o’clock hour marker.
This Rolex Chronograph is in excellent vintage condition. The case does not appear polished, with thick lugs. The dial is very attractive, with no major wear, and has aged evenly to a beautiful tropical cream patina color. The original radium lume is present in both dial and hands, aged to a golden yellow color. The watch comes on a very rare straight endlink Rolex stretch-rivet bracelet, dated to 1958, and has 11 full links with no stretch.
