Up for grabs is a rare and beautiful Patek Phillipe Calatrava, bearing the Reference 1543. This particular model was manufactured in 1949, and delivered to the retailer “Hausmann & Co.”, where it was co-signed by them. The watch features elegant “turtle” or “claw” lugs, that make the watch wear much larger on the wrist than a traditional 35 or 36mm time-only watch. According to a Sotheby’s catalog in 2012, less than 30 of the reference 1543 are known to exist.
This Patek Phillipe Calatrava is in spectacular condition. The case is completely untouched and unpolished. The side of the case shows light tarnish/patina, giving it a very unique appearance. The dial is untouched, with an exceptional hard enamel long signature.
The watch includes it’s original black strap, gold Patek buckle, and an Extract from the Patek Archives.
