Description
Up for grabs is a Tudor “Snowflake” Submariner, circa 1980, reference 9411/0. Tudor is better known as the “sister” brand to Rolex – originally formed as a more affordable alternative to that of a Rolex. In recent years, Tudor has exploded in popularity amongst collectors, with prices often eclipsing those of their Rolex counterparts. This example is a highly sought-after “Snowflake” Submariner, so-called for the snowflake-like appearance of the hour hand.
This Tudor Submariner is in good vintage condition. The case has been polished in the past, but the lugs remain thick and even. The dial is in excellent condition, with no flaws, chips, etc. The original tritium lume is present in both hands and dial, aged to a lovely and vibrant yellow color; the minute hand shows one minor crack. Further, the original and correct blue bezel insert has aged to a lovely fade.
Finally, the watch comes on a Rolex Oyster 93150 bracelet with 580 endlinks, and has 11 full links with minor stretch.
