Description

Up for grabs is a beautiful example of the Reference 2915-2 Omega Speedmaster, which was the the very first model lines of the Omega Speedmaster, produced in the late 1950s. The serial number (1.59xxxx) dates this example to 1958. The very first Speedmaster is powered by Omega’s famous caliber 321. The Speedmaster 2915 reference is considered the holy grail of Speedmaster collecting, and it has becoming very difficult to find attractive examples.  Omega has confirmed the production of this watch to September 30th, 1958, and delivered to their agent in Hong Kong; and Extract of the Archives shall be included in the sale.

The present example is in great vintage condition.  The case appers unpolished, with normal wear, with the original factory edges still visible — if it was polished, it was done very lightly; the caseback shows an old engraving of a former owner, and the “Speedmaster” engraving at the edge of the caseback is crisp and visible.  The dial is in great shape, showing only the lightest of aging.   The original radium lume is present on the dial, aged to a striking orange color, with very minor loss to some of the markers, overall very well-preserved, and the hands have been professionally color-matched to the dial.
